Chevrolet’s Christmas Commerical Celebrates Family, Time Together

By Movieguide® Contributor

Chevrolet just dropped a Christmas commercial that celebrates the importance of family and quality time with loved ones.

While the commercial, called “A Holiday to Remember,” subtly promotes the car manufacturer’s vehicles, the company does this by focusing on family.

It begins with a family gathering together for Christmas. An older man and his daughter look on at the man’s wife, who is suffering from Alzheimer’s.

The daughter asked if her mom has more bad days than good.

“There’s some days she doesn’t even recognize me,” the man answers.

The man’s granddaughter overhears the conversation and decides to “make today a good day.”

She takes her grandmother for a ride in a 1972 Chevrolet Suburban to help her remember essential moments in her life.

At one point, the grandmother sees an old drive-in theater where she and her husband first kissed as teenagers.

As her memory returns, she says, “I need to see Bill [her husband].”

It concludes with the family gathered around the dinner table, wishing each other “Merry Christmas.”

Not only has the commercial brought many to tears because of its positive focus on family, but it also advocates for the Alzheimer’s Association.

Chevrolet and the Alzheimer’s Association joined forces to show what life looks like for those living with Alzheimer’s and their families.

“We talked a lot about reminiscence therapy – not that it’s a cure or a solve, but the power of music, the power of memories are things that can enable the person going through it to feel more comfortable. And the people that are the caregivers that are surrounding them, to also feel more comfortable,” Chevrolet’s head of marketing, Steve Majoros, told Ad Age.

Many viewers took to social media to express their thoughts on the commercial.

One user wrote on X, “Tears are streaming down my face. I can’t remember any other ‘commercial’ that affected me like this one did. I was smiling and crying, at the same time. Thank you for sharing this. Merry Christmas.”

Another user wrote, “This could be the best TV ad of the season – or, maybe, the decade.”

Majoros told USA TODAY, “We feel a sense of honor and responsibility when given the opportunity to bring these stories to life each holiday season.”
