Creed Frontman Delivers Powerful Reminder of Need for Faith, Patriotism
By Movieguide® Contributor
’90s band Creed frontman Scott Stapp wants Americans to stand up for the Bible and their rights.
“It’s my opinion that that’s exactly what the powers that be, that’s what they want,” the singer said on stage at one of his concerts. “They want us divided. They want us separate. They want us compartmentalized in our own little group because we’re right, they’re wrong, and bickering. You know why? To keep us distracted from holding them accountable.”
Stapp believes that indoctrination begins as early as kindergarten.
“They start dividing us and programming us in kindergarten,” he said. “They teach us about how to be good slaves to authority. About how to do this and do that, and think this way, and think that way, all while calling us into this divided group of assets and cons. Wake up!”
The singer continued to yell “wake up!” as his audience cheered.
He continued, “Your civil rights are being violated every single minute of every single day…The only way to make change is to wake up and come together as one, and focus on what we have in common, which is life, freedom, love, happiness. We find our common ground and build from there.”
Stapp also implied that many government leaders today are ignoring and forgetting our country’s foundational principles.
“We start reminding them of what our Constitution says. We start reminding them of what our Bill of Rights says. We start reminding them that we are the people of the republic, based upon the Bible and the word of God, not a democracy.”

Stapp is open about his patriotism and dedication to America. Last year, the singer participated in “a movie called ALL-STAR SALUTE TO LEE GREENWOOD.” The film helped to “celebrating veterans who served this great nation,” Movieguide® previously reported. He also appeared in REAGAN, which released last month.
Faith is also important to the singer.
“In 2013, he shared how, in the midst of depression, despair and time away from the band, he was drinking and using drugs. Paranoid, he checked into the Delano Hotel in Miami, Florida, where he thought the police were after him, and subsequently climbed onto his balcony, lost his footing and fell 40 feet onto a ledge that collected seagull waste,” The Christian Post reported.
He gave his life to Christ and, in 2014, affirmed that he was trying to walk with the Lord.
“As you all know, I have recently over the last couple of years rededicated my life to Christ and I’m a Christian and proud to be,” he said at the time. “And I love God with all my heart and I’m very excited about the future in terms of finally being able to fully dedicate my music and my life and my testimony and my message to share what God’s done in my life and the power of Christ and how he’s done so many amazing things for me,” he said.
