Dennis Quaid Gives His Kids This Piece of Advice

During the premiere of his new movie REAGAN, Dennis Quaid gushed about his kids and shared why he is incredibly proud of them.

Quaid has three children: 32-year-old Jack and twins Zoe and Thomas who are 16. Quaid was accompanied to the premiere by his daughter.

“This is her first red carpet,” Quaid told Fox News. “She’s got her gown on and everything and looks so great. I’m so proud of her. She’s such a sweetheart, and smart as a whip.”

“I love being a dad,” the actor told PEOPLE last July. “I really do. I think I’m a good dad. It turned out so far so good. Jack really turned out well. I’m really proud of him, and Thomas and Zoe too.”

“They’re really just great kids. I love watching them grow up and watching them change,” he continued. “I look back on when I was 15 and you just don’t have a clue what’s going to happen to you in your life. I don’t have a clue what’s going to happen with them either, but it’s day by day that they’re coming along.”

While Zoe was at her first premiere, Jack has become a star in his own right, with over 60 acting roles under his belt since making his debut in 2012.

“I tell my kids to find something you love to do, then figure out a way to get paid for it,” Quaid said. “I don’t push them either way. They are who they are.”

Though Jack’s start in the industry was certainly helped by his father, he has worked hard to make sure his roles are also well deserved.

“My agent wanted to represent him, and he said, ‘No. I want to do it on my own,’” Quaid told Kelly Clarkson in 2020, per Fox News.

“And then, of course, he gets an agent on his own and his first movie is HUNGER GAMES. Then he gets in [Martin] Scorsese’s VINYL on television, which was the hottest show there was,” Quaid continued. “Now he’s doing THE BOYS, which is the hottest thing on streaming. It’s a great show.”

Though he acknowledges and is thankful for the privilege that has come from being Dennis Quaid’s son, Jack does not take his position for granted. Even now that he is established in the industry, he continues to work to improve his acting skills and continue to earn roles through merit, rather than because of his name.

“People have called me a ‘nepo baby,’” Jack recently told The Daily Beast. “I’m inclined to agree. I am an immensely privileged person, was able to get representation pretty early on, and that’s more than half the battle. I knew the door was open for me in a lot of ways that it’s just not for a lot of actors, and I’ve just tried to work as hard as I possibly can to prove that I deserve to walk through that door.”

Movieguide® previously reported on Quaid’s family:

Dennis Quaid credits God for his marriage, believing that having faith at the center of his relationship with his wife is what makes their bond so special.

“I wasn’t looking for it, and she came along, and it’s God [that] put us together,” Quaid told Fox News Digital.

Quaid and his wife, Laura Savoie, tied the knot in June 2020 after meeting at a business event a year earlier.

Though the couple has received criticism over their 39-year age gap, Quaid doesn’t see it as an issue. Instead, he focuses on the life they’ve built together and their plans for the future.

“I haven’t spoken about the age difference of my wife. Other people have. But…I really don’t think about it,” he said. “She’s got so much going on that, you know, I just don’t notice it. She’s just, she’s the light of my life.”
