DreamWorks Land Opens at Universal Studios This Summer

A new land is coming to the Universal Studios theme park in Orlando, Florida.
DreamWorks Land opens this summer, and Fox News reported on new details about the attraction.
“The new land is aimed at kids and features sets and characters from SHREK, TROLLS and KUNGFU PANDA,” Fox 35 said.
“We had the DreamWorks Land name before, but now we’ve got a little bit more detail on the ‘Troller Coaster,’ which is the kiddie-sized roller coaster coming to the land, as well as a new live show which should be a great replacement for long-gone Barney show,” said Seth Kubersky of The Unofficial Guides.
DreamWorks land will replace the old Woody Woodpecker’s Kids Zone.
“JAWS, BACK TO THE FUTURE, all these classic Universal films, they’re going to have their own flow. They’re going to have a band that’s going to play the JAWS theme…a live marching band as the JAWS float goes by. So, I think that’s going to get tons of fans over to Universal this summer,” said Matt Roseboom of Attraction’s Magazine.
In an interview with USA TODAY, one of the creators of the land, Dean Orion, shared how he and his team worked hard to make this a family-friendly place.
“We’ve really consciously tried to put as much interactivity into the land as possible, and to really maximize the fun factor,” Orion said. “So, there are interactions that are digital. There are interactions that are physical. There are interactions with characters. There are interactions with water. There are animated figures, and there’s just tons of shows. There’s going to be shows with characters all day long, so it really is going to be just a great destination for families with younger people.”
He also mentioned how guests do not want to miss the special DreamWorks Imagination Celebration show.
“The amount of work and love and care that’s gone into the DreamWorks Imagination Celebration, I think this show is going to be something really special. We’ve got 30 years worth of iconic music to play with, 30 years of iconic characters. You get up and dance and clap and sing and have fun,” Orion added.
DreamWorks Land will officially open to the public on June 14.
Movieguide® previously reported on another Universal theme park:
Universal Parks and Resorts announced plans for a brand new, kid-friendly theme park outside the Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas metropolis.
The park is specially designed for children aged 3 to 9, with enough rides to fill a two-day trip. The 97-acre location is just a quarter of the size of Universal’s Orlando park, but will include four or five different themed areas, as well as a 300-room hotel.
“The proposed park will be designed to be more intimate and engaging for younger audiences and will be sized for a regional audience,” a press release about the park reads. “It will be full of family-friendly attractions, interactive and playful shows, character meet and greets, unique merchandise and fun food and beverage venues. Although smaller in size, it will still carry the same quality as Universal’s other larger resort destinations.”
