Former NFL Player Greg Olsen ‘Forever Grateful’ for Prayers, Support After Son’s Heart Surgery
By Movieguide® Staff
Former NFL tight end Greg Olsen recently shared a touching video where his 8-year-old son T.J. told his brother and sister that he received an offer from a donor for a heart transplant.
Last month, Olsen announced that T.J., who was born with a rare condition called hypoplastic left heart syndrome, was admitted to the hospital due to heart issues. Olsen, who shares T.J., his twin sister Talbot, and older son Tate with his wife Kara, noted that T.J. underwent heart surgery but was “resting comfortably.”
“Exactly 1 week ago, we were notified that we received an offer for a heart transplant. A special angel donor, somewhere, allowed Tj to share the news himself w/ Tate and Talbot. We are forever grateful,” Olsen wrote beneath the video.

“TJ is resting comfortably following his transplant,” Olsen wrote in a separate post. “His team of doctors and nurses have been incredible. He was able to have his chest closed today and we’re hopeful he can start to wake up over the next day or so.”
He added: “All early signs have been positive. Your prayers and well wishes have been working and we’re beyond grateful. Our boy is a fighter and we can wait to talk to him!”
In another video, T.J. thanked supporters for their prayers.
Then, in another post, the retired athlete posted a video of T.J. thanking fans for their support.
“Hi, everybody,” T.J. said. “Thank you for thinking of me. Thank you for praying with me.”

Six days after T.J.’s surgery, Olsen updated supporters with a video of his son walking.
