THE CHOSEN Season 6 will depict the most pivotal moment in human history, and Jonathan Roumie recently opened up about the weight that comes with portraying Christ’s crucifixion.

“It’s brutal,” he said. “This is the most difficult thing I think I’ve ever done. It’s the most difficult season.”

He continued, “It’s the most difficult role, and this being the most difficult role in the most difficult season, with the physicality that is expected, that I feel is expected, and that ultimately we will portray during Christ’s suffering and death — His passion — I don’t know anything else that could be more challenging to me as a performer.”

Roumie’s prayer? That by embodying the Passion, people will respond to the Gospel message.

“This is all just an offering to Him and for souls and for reaching people on a level that they haven’t reached,” he said.

Filming Jesus’ sacrifice comes shortly after Roumie’s seven-year anniversary since beginning THE CHOSEN. In an Instagram post, the actor shared a photo reel and the story behind the milestone.

“My cup runneth over with gratitude and thanksgiving for all the Lord has done in my life,” Roumie began in the caption. “Seven years ago today, my life utterly changed for the better. I had no idea what God was up to or how unbelievably far He would take me in service to Him.”

Jonathan Roumie continued by saying that he is “a flawed and imperfect human being” and “truly unworthy of the honor of playing the most perfectly Divine/Human Christ,” adding, “but I will humbly continue to accept this mission for as long as He will allow me to do so.”

He also shared how working on THE CHOSEN has transformed his personal relationship with Jesus.

“Jesus makes me want to do better…to BE better every day, and in every possible configuration and interaction with my Neighbors in this life,” he explained.

Season 6 of the hit biblical show just began filming in Goshen, Utah, an area where the show was previously filmed.

Dallas Jenkins, the show’s creator, said, “The attention to detail and the amount of time and I believe, yes, love and honor and reverence and respect that went into building this set, is what we’re trying to bring to the filming of these scenes.”

The release date for THE CHOSEN Season 6 have not yet been announced and will be shared at a later date.
