Katy Perry Shares Realization: ‘Hollywood Is Not America’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Katy Perry made a realization after spending time living in Kentucky with her fiancé, Orlando Bloom, and their daughter Daisy.

“I’m like, living in Kentucky, and I have for almost a month now,” Perry explained. “And that’s quite an amazing experience because it reminds you that Hollywood is not America.”

“You need to remember that, because I think you can understand people better,” the popstar continued. “Yeah, I mean they’re living in a bubble of sorts. We’re living in a bubble. Our bubbles are completely opposite. … It’s interesting.”

Perry recently made headlines for her calls to embrace bipartisanship amid the complicated political situation in America.

Her Tweet read: “The first thing I did when the presidency was called is text and call my family members who do not agree and tell them I love them and am here for them #FamilyFirst.”

Movieguide® previously reported on Perry’s calls for conservatives and liberals to connect:

Pop artist Katy Perry received backlash from fans after the 36-year-old posted an advertisement for her Christian father’s clothing line, which he announced following the 2020 election.

Perry’s father, Keith, is a Christian preacher whose aim is to unite Americans with the new clothing line. His daughter and AMERICAN IDOL judge posted about it on Instagram and shared a video of her dad plugging his new “Nothing But American” brand.

“We haven’t always seen [eye-to-eye] but I’m proud of my dad n bro for coming up with this!” Perry posted on Instagram.

Perry’s father’s primary goal is to move beyond the democratic and republican labels and to focus on authentic American values.

“Hey everyone, I’m Keith and I want to ask you a question,” Keith said in the promotional video. “Are you tired of the division that is destroying our country? Are you sick of losing your family and friends because they just don’t agree with your political views? Well, I am, and I know there’s a lot of people out there that have the same feeling in the same way.”

Keith continued: “No matter what you believe, at the end of the day we’re all Americans and I designed this T-shirt because I want people to know that, even though you may have a different religion or political view than I do, I still will be there for you and I’ll still consider you my friend, my neighbor and my fellow America.”
