Blogger Perez Hilton expressed some of his “hot takes” regarding the Bible after he recently committed reading it cover-to-cover following a 21-day stay in the hospital.

“God presented Himself to me in the hospital,” Hilton said after he survived sepsis and a blood clot. “And then healed me. [He] did something that I can only describe as a miracle. I had been calling out to God for years, opening my heart and inviting Him, and now I no longer need to have faith, I no longer need to hope to believe; I know that God is real and that God loves me.”

In a recent video posted on his social media page, Hilton talked about the deep relationship he currently feels with God.

“I personally believe that there’s one God, and you guys, that one God is so present in my life,” he shared.

Hilton described a work related problem that occurred earlier in the day. When the problem started, he began to pray and within minutes the situation was resolved.

“I had something bad happen to me professionally very early this morning. I won’t get into details, because my relationship with God is thriving and so powerful and so real, but within minutes, within minutes of this bad professional thing that happened, and me praying the problem was resolved,” he said with tears in his eyes.

Hilton also shared some of his “hot takes” when it came to believing what’s in the Bible. To be clear, these hot takes aren’t actually up for debate, as they directly contradict the Word of God.

“I’m reading the Bible for the first time at 48 years old, from start to finish. It is so powerful, and I have a lot of thoughts, some of them might be controversial, such as, I don’t believe everything the Bible says,” he confessed. “The Bible was not written by God. The Bible was written by man, and man is fallible. God is infallible. Man and woman make mistakes. God does not make mistakes.

“For example, as I’m still very early on in the beginning of the Bible, there’s a lot of talk of man and woman and husband and wife, and if you’re a purist, if you’re hardcore bibleist, then you believe that a woman should be subservient to her husband. I do not believe that. I believe that a marriage should be a partnership between two equals,” he continued.

Despite his opinion, the Bible says in John 1:1, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

This means that from the very beginning God was the one who wrote the entire Bible.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 emphasizes that “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

It is amazing that Hilton has found a relationship with God and has begun to read his Bible. However, he needs prayer for clarity and conviction from the Holy Spirit to do what only God can do, which is to change our hearts and create a spiritual transformation. As Hilton continues to read the Bible, may his heart and mind be opened to all that God wants for him.
