Priscilla Shirer Noticed This Biblical Message in INSIDE OUT 2
By Movieguide® Contributor
Actress Priscilla Shirer explained the biblical message she found while watching INSIDE OUT 2 with her family.
“There’s this one part where Joy looks Anxiety in the face and says, ‘Let her go.’ I’m just saying, I felt something in my spirit right there… I’m saying the spirit of the living God might have been in that one line right there,” Shirer said in an Instagram post about the movie.
“Joy said to Anxiety, ‘Let her go.’ I’m saying the joy of the Lord is your strength. I’m saying that the scriptures say, ‘Be anxious for nothing but in everything’ – hey, I feel it in my spirit. INSIDE OUT [2] has an anointing on it,” she continued.
Shirer’s enthusiasm for the movie has been felt by millions. The movie’s positive, uplifting messaging that is free from the liberal agenda that has marred Disney and Pixar movies for years has catapulted INSIDE OUT 2 to become the No. 1 movie of the year.
“INSIDE OUT 2’s success is definitive proof that Movieguide®’s advocacy work impacts Disney,” said Movieguide®’s CEO Robby Baehr. “This is the first movie Pixar has released in years that doesn’t flaunt an immoral agenda. Instead, because of our Annual Report to the Entertainment Industry, Disney and Pixar chose to cater to families and focus on positive, uplifting messages, and it’s already paying out dividends.”
After roughly two weeks in theaters, INSIDE OUT 2 has grossed $469 million at the domestic box office, while crossing the $1 billion mark at the global box office — the first movie to do so since BARBIE was released last summer.
The movie’s massive success has provided hope for a strong box office showing during the second half of the year, with multiple tentpole family-friendly movies slated for release through December. DISPICABLE ME 4, for example, is releasing ahead of the 4th of July weekend, hot on the heels of INSIDE OUT 2. The previous movie in the franchise, MINIONS RISE OF GRU, grossed just under $1 billion worldwide in 2022 — a year that was still held back from the pandemic.
Other family-friendly movies looking to uphold the box office include MOANA 2, HAROLD AND THE PURPLE CRAYON, THE WILD ROBOT and SONIC 3.
Movieguide® previously reported:
2024’s top movies at the box office all promote strong morals and boast uplifting plots, while more perverted movies, even when they have a strong backing, have sunk.
The year’s top movie so far — INSIDE OUT 2 — follows an uplifting, family-friendly, coming-of-age story.
Having been in theaters for two weeks, its total domestic gross has crossed $400 million, a better showing than last year’s top movie – BARBIE – at this point in the movie’s cycle.
DUNE: PART TWO, in second place, boasts a similarly edifying storyline, with a story of good versus evil and the struggle for freedom. Its strong release at the beginning of March was the main catalyst for the healthy box office heading into the major summer months and nine out of the top 10 movies of the year owe some of their success to the momentum it generated.
