Comedian and U.S. Marine Corps Veteran Rob Riggle is back to host the annual Veteran’s Day TV special AMERICAN VALOR: A SALUTE TO OUR HEROES which will air across multiple TV stations the weekend of Nov. 15.
“As a Marine, it’s the greatest honor to stand alongside those who’ve served and to help tell the stories of the true heroes who’ve shaped our country,” Riggle said. “Their courage, their sacrifice, and their legacy deserve to be celebrated and remembered, not just on Veterans Day, but every day.”

This year’s event looks to place a special emphasis on the efforts of WWII veterans given that it is the 80-year anniversary of the end of the war. The event will bring together more than 50 WWII veterans whose average age is over 100 years old to honor the men who put everything on the line to protect the world against the evils of Nazi Germany. AMERICAN VALOR will also recognize the efforts by the millions of Rosie the Riveters who stepped into critical roles back home to keep the American war effort running smoothly while the men went off to fight.
The event will also highlight efforts made during the Korean and Vietnam wars as well as those who fought in Afghanistan following the horrors of 9/11.
“AMERICAN VALOR is about remembering who we are as a nation, and who we owe,” said Tim Holbert, the president of the American Veterans Center, the organization which sponsors the annual event. “This year’s program brings together voices across generations to honor the legacy of our heroes and ensure their stories are never forgotten.”
Along with Riggle, stars that will be a part of the program include Kristen Bell, Joe Buck, Candace Cameron Bure, Chris Evans, Michael Keaton, Chris Pine, Chris Pratt and Gary Sinise. As for Riggle, while he is known as a sort of goofball comedian, he often uses his platform to prompt good.
In 2010, Riggle and his friends Paul Rudd and Jason Sedeikis began hosting an annual charity event to raise money for children’s cancer research. The event has now grown into a major celebration which raises millions of dollars every year.
It is incredible to see how Riggle uses the platform given to him to bless others, even when his persona does not seem like the type to do so. AMERICAN VALOR will air across ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and The CW associates across the country next week.
