What Do These Stars Have in Common? They Want to See Positive Changes in Entertainment
By Movieguide® Contributor
A variety of people involved in the entertainment industry shared their hope for the future of TV and movies while on the red carpet for the Movieguide® Awards.
“For me, it’s really simple. [I want to see more content] that has good ethics, good morals, good ideals, is family-friendly and something that’s going to actually perhaps change somebody’s life because cinema has changed our lives,” THE CHOSEN actor Kirk B.R. Woller said when asked what he hopes to see in the entertainment industry. “So, content that just makes you go wow, okay, I’ve got to be a better person, or I’ve got to do better. [Content] that inspires me to be a better person. I’d love to see more films like that.”
In recent years, content like that has exploded, largely thanks to the work done by Angel Studios. Several of this year’s Movieguide® Award nominees came from that studio, and many of the stars are now excited by just how many people their uplifting projects can reach.
“People keep flocking to these films, people are supporting these movies and it’s places like Movieguide® Awards that really celebrate the fact that we worked really hard to get to this spot,” said HOMESTEAD star Neal McDonough. “And we’re really just beginning. So, thank you Movieguide® Awards for everything that you’ve done for everyone in this industry who is aspiring to make films and TV shows that give glory to God.”

“I’m always amazed that no matter where I go all over the world, that these movies have touched them. I mean everywhere,” added GOD’S NOT DEAD actor David A. R. White. “And it’s amazing how God has chosen to use films like these, you know, it’s a form of ministry and it’s a form of evangelism.”
The actors are also surprised about how much working on these movies and TV shows impacts their own faith and outlook on life.
“This was a life-changing film for me. SOUND OF HOPE made me think differently about every role that I accept from here on out…” said Demetrius Grosse. “This movie came out and I was like, ‘Oh, I’m missing out. We’re missing out if we’re not making films that uplift and that expand our ideas about what’s possible for humanity.’ And so, kids need to see that stuff, families need to watch movies together. It’s a fireside opportunity, so to speak, so it’s become very important [to make family-friendly content].”
These stars and many more where honored at this year’s Movieguide® Awards. Hosted by Mario Lopez, this year’s show will air on Great American Family Network on March 6 before becoming available to stream on Great American Pure Flix the following day.
