Best-selling author Karen Kingsbury says upcoming movie THE CHRISTMAS RING is the perfect way to “really celebrate the true meaning of Christmas.”
“It was a movie that kind of came out of nowhere,” she said in a recent interview with Movieguide®.
Kingsbury explained that she was working on the outline and script for THE CHRISTMAS RING but, during the process, began to get interested in the rest of the story.
“And I just, kind of as a consumer, was looking at the story saying, ‘This is so good. I want more information. Like, I need to know the backstory,’” she said. “And that’s when I just decided, ‘You know what? I’m going to take a couple of weeks and set it aside and write the book.’”
Per the movie’s official logline, THE CHRISTMAS RING tells the story of a “military widow” who is “searching for her family’s long-lost heirloom ring [and] meets a poetic antiques dealer.”

“The two forge a deep friendship that could become a breathtaking romance. But shocking news hits right before Christmas,” the description continued.
THE CHRISTMAS RING stars Jana Kramer, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Kelsey Grammer, Jessie James Decker, and Debbie Winans.
THE CHRISTMAS RING’s production came together quickly, which Kingsbury attributed to God’s influence.
“It was God. Like, the Lord alone could come alongside us and say, ‘Jump! We’re going to go on a speeding train ride all the way to Christmas,’ and so we did that,” she said.
Kingsbury added that she “prayed and prayed” that God would “bring us the right people” for the cast, and those prayers paid off!
“I developed a great friendship with all of [the cast],” she shared. “[I] prayed with Kelsey Grammer a couple times on set.”
Kingsbury concluded, “It’ll be an event and a way to really celebrate the true meaning of Christmas.”
THE CHRISTMAS RING also celebrates our nation’s armed forces, both onscreen and through the movie’s release.
“Donating ad space to the Gary Sinise Foundation was a privilege, as I can only hope that more people come to know and support this life-changing organization,” Kingsbury told People. “By putting information about the GSF in front of moviegoers who see THE CHRISTMAS RING, we will expose millions more people to the work the Gary Sinise Foundation is doing. I’m so excited to see many more veterans helped through this partnership.”
THE CHRISTMAS RING premieres in theaters November 6.
