TOP GUN 3 Producer Promises ‘We’ll Be Back in the Air Again’

TOP GUN 3 producer Jerry Bruckheimer is sharing some details about the upcoming movie’s production.
“It will be Tom Cruise [leading the cast],” Bruckheimer said. “Tom is amazing. We spent time with him. We have a story. Joe Kosinski had a wonderful story idea for it, and [Tom] said, ‘I really like that,’ so we’re developing it.”
He continued, “But you never know when it’s going to get made because Tom is so busy. He’s doing MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE right now, he’s got a picture after it. Hopefully, we’ll get a screenplay that he loves, and we’ll be back in the air again.”
The TOP GUN 3 announcement was a surprise to everyone, including the movie’s cast.
“It was confidential to me,” TOP GUN: MAVERICK star Glen Powell said after the news broke, adding, “There is stuff happening and it sounds very exciting. I don’t know when I’ll be going back…I’m sure there is a jet waiting for me sometime in the future.”
Co-star Miles Teller also previously teased a third movie, telling Entertainment Tonight, “It’s all up to Tom. I’ve been having some conversations with him about it. We’ll see.”

TOP GUN 3 is in development, Paramount recently announced.
“[Paramount] is also hoping that TOP GUN: MAVERICK director Joseph Kosinski will get back into the cockpit for another installment in the series, which would potentially see Cruise’s younger co-stars Miles Tiller and Glen Powell return for more high-altitude excitement,” Variety reported.
TOP GUN: MAVERICK co-writer Ehren Kruger is tapped to write the script for the sequel.
This announcement comes soon after Cruise signed a non-exclusive deal with Warner Bros. to develop original movies and franchises for the studio.
“That pact still allows Cruise to work for other companies like Paramount and Universal, where he’s working on a pricey film that will shoot at the International Space Station. It also gives Cruise’s company offices on Warner’s Burbank lot,” Variety reported.
