New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson recently married to his longtime girlfriend, whose name has not been shared publicly.
“We got married. We made it official. We got engaged first, and then we eloped and made it official,” Henderson shared on the “Access the Walk” podcast.
While on the podcast, the athlete vulnerably shared the struggles he and his wife faced while dating and how those challenges deepened their faith.
“And so one thing that I was really holding on to was sexual immorality early in my faith,” he admitted. “And I remember just waking up one day and reaching a point on my walk with the Lord where it was like, choose whom today you will serve. He’s been so patient to me. He’s been teaching me the truth. He has been convicting my heart, and He has been showing me mercy and grace, but honestly, during that time and the beginning stage of my faith, I was abusing the grace of God.”

“You know, I was asking for His forgiveness, but I had no desire to repent, to turn away from my sins, and when I woke up that day, man, I don’t know how to describe this feeling, but it was just like, I couldn’t press on until I really decided to give up my life and follow Jesus,” Henderson recalled. “In that moment, I knew I had to have a conversation with my girlfriend. I want to continue to pursue Christ and follow Him.”
He told her that “we either have to split up, or you can come along with me.”
“It was a long conversation, and, you know, she ended up coming and tagging along, and she started to pursue the Lord, and like I said, eventually, she got baptized a couple of months later,” the running back said. “But the Lord, He delivered us. He set us free from sexual immorality. He kept us pure for a couple of years, until we got married.”
He’s grateful for his marriage and how God is using it to continue to sanctify him: “Growing as a husband and learning the beauty of marriage, the Lord is still working on my heart, but it’s been great. Being married so far has been great.”
Henderson announced his engagement back in September, writing, “‘Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.’ Proverbs 31:30 💍” in the caption of his Instagram post.
Praise God for how He’s transformed Henderson and his wife’s lives!
