This Actor Loves Learning So Much He Decided to Do This

Actor and TV personality Rob Lowe loves to learn. In a recent episode of Mike Rowe’s “The Way I Heard It” podcast, Lowe dished on why he jumped into hosting a game show and starting a podcast.
“I wanna understand why you’re doing a game show, and I really wanna understand why you’re doing your podcast,” Rowe asked the actor.
“Both are the same answer,” Lowe replied. “Because I need to be curious in my life, and I need to learn, and I don’t know anything about hosting a game show. Nothing. Zero. Anytime I’m on a traditional movie set, just by virtue of how long I’ve been doing it, I will be the most experienced person there. I walk onto the set of the game show, and I’m a rookie. And I get to learn, and I get to prove myself.”
“The podcast is that with my decades of relationships, that I could talk to people in a way that nobody else would be able to. My interview with Gweneth Paltrow is gonna be unlike anybody else’s interview,” he added.
His podcast, “Literally! With Rob Lowe,” promises to cover “the thoughtful to the extremely random.”
Lowe hosts FOX’s hit game show THE FLOOR where “Contestants must stand their ground on a massive, interactive LED game floor of squares, each representing a different trivia category.” The synopsis continues:
The first challenger, selected at random, must choose one of his or her neighboring opponents to go head-to-head in an epic quiz duel in the opponent’s category. The winner takes over the loser’s square, gaining valuable ground as they expand their territory, while the loser exits the game. The winner must then choose whether to go on the offensive to dominate more of the board or let THE FLOOR choose a new challenger. The contestant who gains full control over THE FLOOR takes home a life-changing grand prize.

Rowe added that it’s important to take risks in life, recalling a conversation he had with a photographer for DEADLIEST CATCH who explored “the necessity to take chances and the willingness to assume risk.”
“We’ve so elevated safety and we so value carefulness, but we still aspire success in all of its forms. We’re just so careful about taking chances,” the DIRTY JOBS host said.
