June 11, 2013: Sony Invites Movieguide® Film Critic for Set Visit

New Sony Sports Drama Reaches Out to Faith Market, Asks Dr. Ted Baehr to Visit Set.

NEW ORLEANS, June 11, 2013 /Christian Newswire/ — Christian Media Critic Dr. Ted Baehr will be visiting the set of “When The Game Stands Tall” this week, on invitation from Sony Pictures. The upcoming sports drama starring Jim Caviezel is currently filming in New Orleans, Louisiana. This visit shows an obvious interest in the faith market.

“Movies with faith and family values tend to perform better at the box office.” Dr. Baehr pointed out. “Hollywood is catching on, and wants to make sure their movies will be acceptable to families.”

It seems that Sony would agree. The producer, who also sought out Dr. Baehr’s input during pre-production, has organized what they are calling an “exclusive faith & family set visit day.”

Dr. Baehr noted that more than three-fourths of Americans identify themselves as Christian.

Sony’s invitation to the conservative critic shows that they are trying to reach a market that holds very high standards concerning amount of language, violence, and sexual content in a movie.

“I love families, and I love movies.” Dr. Baehr said. “Family movies not only have a more positive impact on the next generation, they also make the most money in the box office, year after year.”

Jim Caveziel, star of “When The Game Stands Tall,” has also attended Dr. Baehr’s “Movieguide Faith & Values Awards Gala” in years past. The Movieguide Awards recognizes each year’s top family and faith-based movies and TV programs. The next Gala will take place Feb. 7, 2014 at the Universal Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.

Dr. Baehr is the founder and publisher of Movieguide®: The Family Guide to Entertainment. He is also chairman of the Christian Film and Television Commission. These roles have situated him to be the liaison between faith and family audience and the entertainment industry.

The set visit will last for 3 days, beginning today, June 11, and lasting through June 13.
