More Detail:
CHRISTMAS BY CANDLELIGHT is a romantic comedy on Great American Family. Juliet is an employee at a lifestyle brand company who’s tasked with finding a hot, new product to launch before Christmas. After a chance encounter with Tom, the owner of a small candle store, the pair decide to partner together. They get closer, but Tom’s worries about teaming up with a large company and Juliet’s efforts to cater to what her boss wants make things tense. Can they work it out before Christmas?
The movie opens with Juliet’s boss at Goodwell telling her to find and pitch a new product before Christmas, because website traffic and sales are flagging. On a walk, Juliet happens to go into a candle store and is struck by the memories one of the candles’ scents evokes for her. She tells her boss about the candles. She gives Juliet the go-ahead to start working on her pitch. Now, she just must convince the candle store’s owner.
Tom, a widower and single father, is initially hesitant to team up with Juliet and Goodwell. He doesn’t like the idea of getting involved with a big company. However, after his sister convinces him the store’s sales need the boost Goodwell’s project would give them, he agrees.
Juliet and Tom start working on a series of Christmas scents for the candle launch. They share their own memories of the holiday with each other. This brings them closer together.
Juliet also meets Tom’s daughter, Olive, who’s sad because her grandmother can’t come for Christmas. The grandmother’s volunteer organization to help needy families during Christmas just lost a major donor. So, she must stay and work through Christmas.
Complications arise when Juliet’s boss adds her own two cents. Tom chafes at the idea of cutting down on quality to lower the price of the candles. Juliet convinces him to go ahead with the deal, and they’re both excited when Goodwell officially okays the pitch.
However, after Juliet’s boss sends over a contract that looks totally different than the one Tom thought he’d be signing, the pair argue. Tom is convinced Juliet isn’t being honest and real with him. He thinks she would do anything to get ahead at work, while Juliet’s frustrated that Tom won’t take her at her word.
Can they find ways to resolve their differences and repair their romance?
CHRISTMAS BY CANDLELIGHT is a sweet, enjoyable romantic comedy for the Christmas season. There isn’t much action, so the plot falls a little flat at times. So, all in all, CHRISTMAS BY CANDLELIGHT is a good family-friendly for nearly all ages.
