Everything in the older brother’s life gets turned upside down when Snake Cain, whose late father previously owned the store, decides to scare the brothers out of town. Snake, his brother, Matty, and their friend, Jake Knight, go to Bob’s house and confront the man. They set Bob’s house on fire, killing his wife and two children. After this tragic crime is covered up by the brothers’ uncle, who’s the town sheriff, Bob turns away from God and his family. He secludes himself on a farm in the middle of the countryside. While the Cain brothers continue to terrorize the town, Jake Knight is left to deal with the overwhelming guilt from being involved with the event that destroyed a man’s life. Not knowing how to handle the guilt, he takes his emotional pain out on his wife and daughter, Puck. He begins to consider leaving his family and going to another town. Jake’s boss, Frank (played by Kevin Sorbo), encourages him and tells him that family is something that should never be taken for granted. However, Jake is still tormented by what he did. Meanwhile, Jake’s daughter, Puck, becomes friends with Seth’s son, Bay, who invites the girl to church. Through her newfound friendship, she learns what it is to be a real family and to forgive her father, Jake.
