- Content: Federal employees not only earn much higher salaries than workers in the private sector, they also earn much higher benefits.
A new study by USA TODAY shows that federal workers average $108,476 in pay and benefits but that the same jobs in the private sector average only $69,928, or 35.5% less!!!
The jobs studied included accountants, nurses, chemists, surveyors, cooks, clerks, and janitors. The dollar amounts covered were pay and benefits received in 2008.
