Luke Combs is stepping back from his country music career for a bit for one very good reason: his kids.
“I want to take a moment to remind y’all that I truly believe y’all are the best fans in the world,” he wrote in an Instagram post earlier this month. “I know we’re only doing festivals in the US this year, but I thank y’all for giving me the opportunity to change things up and not do my own tour while still knowing how much y’all mean to me.”
Combs added, “I just want to be home as much as I can where I can see my boys grow up and them know how important they are to me.”
The singer shares two boys, Tex, 2, and Beau, 1, with wife Nicole Hocking.
He elaborated on the decision in an interview with PEOPLE, explaining, “I want to be home with my kids. I want to see my kids grow up and I want them to know that they’re important to me.”

“I want my kids to know that my job is not more important than they are,” Combs added.
In another interview with the outlet, Combs shared that his 2024 album, Fathers & Sons, was inspired by his sons.
“I wanted them to be able to reference later on in their life that even at the height of my success they were still my number one priority,” he said. “If anyone’s dad had the opportunity to do something like that, I think that they would take it. At least I would hope so. I did it for them.”
While Combs might be slowing down when it comes to touring, he still has plenty of time to create new music.
“I’m at the point now, I’m about to go in the studio for the first session on cutting my next record,” Combs said during an appearance on the “Meateater” podcast. “So, I’m trying to cut probably, anywhere from, like, in a worst-case scenario, four or best-case, six…I would say right now, songs that are in serious contention to make the record, I mean, like, forty to fifty? You got to whittle it down…Then you’re getting into, like, it’s like heavyweight fights because all the songs you really like all of them.”
Fans of Combs’ music might be disappointed that it’ll be harder to catch him in concert this year but understand why the country singer is prioritizing family right now.
