Several Savannah Bananas baseball players just hosted their second worship night outside of their home stadium.

Star player Robert Anthony Cruz, aka Coach Rac, shared “how it went” on social media.

1. I shared how this night began out of our small Bible study
2. Hundreds of people came from all over the states
3. @mehkikey led us into musical worship as God is the audience, not us.
3. @bill_leroy shared of Gods faithfulness in providing him a community
4. @dr_meadows shared about the peace and rest that he has found in Christ
5. @winjohns12 opened up the Word to Colossians 1 and preached the preeminence of Christ and prayed over us
6. I shared a word from Colossians 2-3 about how in Christ are the true riches of this world. We actively rebel against God, but he bore our punishment and shows us a new way to live. This way produces the good fruits of peace, love, joy, kindness, and humility.
7. We sang aloud “Great are you Lord”
8. We did a “prayer walk” where we did one lap around the stadium and prayed for our city and for each other
9. We finished the night in one big circle, praying together.”

Coach Rac added, “This is not a replacement for the local church. It is our prayer that we might partner with local churches so that people can be connected to the body and experience fullness of relationship with their creator.”

The team’s first worship night was at the beginning of June.

“First ever player-led worship night outside Grayson Stadium home of the Savannah Bananas ❤️ May Christ be magnified,” Coach Rac shared on Instagram on June 17.

While the Savannah Bananas are not a Christian organization, many on the team are unashamed when it comes to sharing their faith. They have even danced to Forrest Frank’s “Your Way’s Better.”

Coach Rac especially has used his platform with the Bananas to encourage his fans and fellow athletes in their faith.

In one recent post, he posted a prayer that athletes who can’t play their sport anymore can bring before God.

“Lord, I confess I miss the thrill of competing. I miss training. I miss working towards something. I miss the camaraderie with teammates. I at times took it for granted, and didn’t appreciate the blessing that it was. I pray that you would help me better understand my identity outside of my sport,” he wrote.

“I crave purpose and meaning, and so much of my self-image was wrapped up in my athletic abilities. That’s why I miss playing so much. The longing inside me is for a deeper purpose. That longing was temporarily satisfied by pursuing a dream, by competing wholeheartedly,” he added.

The Bananas aren’t just making baseball fun for the whole family; they are also providing new ways to get people interest in the Gospel, and that’s incredible to see.
