Scooby-Doo will get a new look for an upcoming animated series!
“The new SCOOBY-DOO spin-off is titled SCOOBY-DOO! GOKKO and it was announced during a makeup launch event for Scooby-Doo x Miss Frandy in Brazil,” Collider reported. “According to TV Laint, the spin-off is currently in development and scheduled to debut in 2027.”
The show will animate Scooby and the rest of the Mystery Inc. gang in an anime style, similar to 2022’s TOM & JERRY GOKKO series.

This might not be the only anime-inspired SCOOBY-DOO series on the way. Collider also reported on a rumored show called GO-GO MYSTERY MACHINE, which would see Scooby and his pals travel to Japan to solve a mystery.
If cartoons aren’t really your thing, don’t worry — Netflix has a live-action series about the beloved sleuths in the works!
“Mystery, Inc. is back in business!” Peter Friedlander, VP, Scripted Series, Netflix, said in a statement. “We’re excited to bring Scooby-Doo to TV as a live-action series for the first time.”
He continued, “The beloved franchise has had an impact on pop culture that is undeniable — it’s rich with universal themes of friendship that generations of fans have long embraced. Together with creative powerhouses Berlanti Productions and Midnight Radio, we’re committed to delighting longtime fans and opening up a world of groovy adventures for a new era of meddling kids.”
The still-untitled series will delve into Mystery Inc.’s backstory, as well as their first case together.
A synopsis of the show’s premise reads, “During their final summer at camp, old friends Shaggy and Daphne get embroiled in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely lost Great Dane puppy that may have been a witness to a supernatural murder. Together with the pragmatic and scientific townie, Velma, and the strange, but ever so handsome new kid, Freddy, they set out to solve the case that is pulling each of them into a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all of their secrets.”
No cast announcements have been made yet, besides the reveal that Frank Welker will reprise his role as Scooby-Doo; the actor has voiced the cartoon dog, as well as Fred, in animated shows and movies since 2002.
What’s On Netflix revealed the series will begin production in April, adding, “Production will occur largely in Atlanta, Georgia, with the report noting that filming will take place through Q2 2026.”
From new animated takes on the classic characters to a brand-new live-action origin story, SCOOBY-DOO fans have plenty to look forward to!
