Patriotism isn’t a problem, actor Kirk Cameron recently asserted, and Americans should be proud of the values and founding principles that make our country unique.
“I was thinking about the fact that the Olympics are normally a time where all of us are so excited and proud that America is being represented at these games, and flags were flying and the National Anthem was being sung. But, did you notice that it seems to be common for people to think that patriotism in America is problematic?” Cameron said in a recent Instagram video.
“America is by no means a perfect country, but we are a unique country in that we were founded on the values of faith and courage,” he reflected. “And we understand that our rights come, not from the government, but from God and that’s why we’re able to do so many amazing things that you can only do in America.”

Cameron often encourages Americans to be proud of their country’s history and understand that its founding on Christian beliefs makes it special.
“You are part of a rich historical tradition where faith has played a significant role in shaping our nation,” Cameron wrote in 2023. “Many good Christian people, like yourself, have contributed to the foundations of this country through their values of compassion, justice, and community.”
“Preserving these principles and passing them down to future generations are a sacred duty, ensuring that our nation continues to be a beacon of Christian values, promoting love, kindness, and a sense of purpose for all Americans for generations and generations to come!” the actor added.
While atheism has long been on the rise and new age religion has led many astray, Christian beliefs have seen a major comeback in recent years, particularly among the youngest generations. This return to the Lord should encourage all of us.
“And I think people are naturally understanding, ‘Wait, this thing isn’t working anymore. This isn’t going how I thought it was going to go.’ And so ultimately, people don’t just want a truth. They want the truth. And that would be Jesus,” explained Christian podcaster Bryce Crawford.
“I mean, we’ve lived for so many different things, different people, relationships, substances, different vices, and it doesn’t fulfill us,” he added. “And so people understand that we need something eternal and perfect that can sustain that. And Jesus is alive and active, and He’s doing that in people’s hearts who are hungry and ready to receive Him.”
As the United States reaches its 250th anniversary, it is more important than ever for Americans to celebrate their history and reflect on what makes our country something to celebrate.
