Deion Sanders Explains the Power of Patience: ‘Let’s Change the World’
By Movieguide® Contributor
Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes didn’t have the season they were hoping for, but the coach is sharing a message of patience with fans.
In a recent Instagram post, Sanders wrote, “Have patience with all things but first with yourself. I’ve read one minute of patience, ten years of peace. With love and patience nothing is impossible. Let’s try our best to exude patience with every opportunity we get. Let’s change the world little by little.”
“Patience is vital if you desire to understand life,” he captioned the photo.
Even though the Buffaloes finished 4-8 this season, Sports Illustrated named Sanders the “Sportsperson of the Year.”
Coach Prime’s impact on Colorado so far has been incredible.
“There are numbers that define the Prime Effect upon the University of Colorado in Boulder, a place that hasn’t always had a chummy relationship with football,” Sports Illustrated wrote. “First-year applications are up 26.4% year over year; Black or African American applications are up 80.6%; nonresident applications are up 29.8%; and international applications are up 38.4% from 97 countries, including 16 that didn’t have any applications last year. While those numbers cannot be definitively linked to Sanders, others can be: September sales at the school’s online team store were up 2,544% over the same month in 2022. Every home game in 50,183-seat Folsom Field was sold out for the first time in school history.”
Mark Heinritz, co-owner of a bar near Folsom Field, commented on Sanders’ effect on the program and town thus far.
“It has that 1990s energy all over again. There were a lot of discussions over a couple decades of, ‘Why do we have football?’ This is why we have football,” he said.
City council member Rachel Friend added, “Boulder felt kind of beaten up, or beaten down, through the pandemic. Our potholes haven’t been filled as readily, we can’t figure out how to get unhoused people what they need and we’ve had a notable increase in that population. There is a cash infusion [from football into the economy] that means more potholes are going to be filled. People living here and visiting here are going to be taken care of better.”
“Deion Sanders dominated the sports conversation in 2023 as a transformative figure not just in Colorado, but for the entire realm of college sports,” Stephen Cannella, editor-in-chief of SI, said. “On and off the field, he represents a new model for the modern college coach.”
Movieguide® recently reported on Sanders:
Deion Sanders, former NFL cornerback turned head coach for the University of Colorado, took a stand for his faith in a recent Instagram post.
“JESUS!” Sanders captioned the photos.
“Sex won’t satisfy you. Fame won’t satisfy you. Drugs won’t satisfy you. Money won’t satisfy you. Alcohol won’t satisfy you. Success won’t satisfy you. Life is empty without Jesus. He is the only one who can satisfy your heart. Amen,” the first photo declared.
The second photo stated, “Pray until you see a breakthrough. Pray until the chains fall off. Pray until you hear God’s voice.”
