Two Brazilian nuns went viral after spontaneously beatboxing while on air.

The nuns were talking about their convent’s work and promoting a vocational retreat on Brazilian Catholic channel Pai Eterno when they started to sing. One of them suddenly started beatboxing while the other danced, and then the priest jumped in, mimicking the nun’s quick moves.

CBS News shared the video this week.

The nuns are Sisters Marizele Cassiano and Marisa de Paula, members of the Copiosa Redenão congregation. The song they were singing is about being called to a religious lifestyle, ABC 7 reported.

The lyrics they sang were “vocation to love and serve ohhhh.”

“That moment was very spontaneous, because with Sister Marisa, if you start a beat, she will dance. And I’m used to singing, to beatboxing, so for us it was very simple, spontaneous and at the same time very surprising to see that it went viral even outside Brazil,” Cassiano told The Associated Press.

The sisters help those who facing drug addiction. They use music in their programs.

“Beatboxing, dancing, and the songs itself, are tools that God uses to reach the hearts of the people we work with. And it works! It’s beautiful to see,” said Sister Cassiano.

The sisters have recently shared more fun videos of themselves on Cassiono and the congregation’s Instagram. A Brazilian news outlet even made a little music video of the nuns singing and dancing.

“When I was still hanging out, before the convent, with my friends, we were always playing with the ‘beatbox,’ doing it as fun,” Cassiano said.

“And one of the ways to break the ice is to be creative with them,” she said of those in drug recovery. “So this instrument, which is the ‘beatbox,’ ends up being used in my life for this, to live the mission, to live the consecration.”

Cassiano was also invited to beatbox alongside singer Danilo Dyba on TV Evangelizar’s Vozes special, which showcases those who spread the gospel through music. They’ve also appeared on other shows since becoming viral.

Many people across the world are impressed and entertained by the nuns.

TODAY’s Carson Daly came up with a nickname for the duo: “Nun-D.M.C.”

“I know ‘Sister Act’ when I see it,” one viewer wrote.

“They really dropping a ‘Sister Act’ remake in 2025, huh?” one person joked.

One woman simply commented: “Psalms 149:3: ‘Let them praise His name with dancing and make music to Him.’”

Those amazing nuns are certainly taking that verse to heart!
