Tim Tebow challenges us to find the difference between our plans for the future and God’s plans for us.
“Are you really trying to figure out what’s next in your life? Or are you really trying to figure out what does God want you to do? Because those are very different,” he said in an Instagram video. “By being in God’s word, by studying it, by being surrounded with so many brothers and sisters that are running this race with each other — that the first thing we think of in the middle of our circumstances isn’t ‘Are they good or are they bad?’ But ‘What is God doing, and what does He want to do in me?’”

The NFL star elaborated in his post’s caption, writing, “I’ll be honest, I’ve spent a lot of time trying to figure out my life. Mapping it out. Planning the next move. Trying to make sense of my circumstances when things didn’t go as planned.”
“But here’s what God has been teaching me, there’s a difference between asking what’s next and asking what does God want. And those are very different questions,” Tebow continued. “Your uncertainty isn’t a dead end. It’s an invitation. Trust that His purpose is bigger than anything you could map out on your own.”
He added, “So let me ask you, are you more focused on your circumstances or your Savior?”
Tebow recently announced the death of his father, Robert Tebow.
“Heaven ushered in a hero of the faith last night as my Dad was welcomed home!” he posted on Facebook. “Many will say sorry for your loss but the truth is he’s not lost, we know exactly where he is. He’s home. Forever!”
Tebow continued, “I asked him last week what he looked forward to most about Heaven, and he simply said, ‘Jesus.’ He couldn’t wait to see Jesus face to face. Praise God that his wait is over.”
“Death has been swallowed up in victory. He’s healed and whole now,” he finished. “So we don’t mourn as those with no hope. See you soon Dad!”
Tebow’s wife, Demi-Leigh, also shared a tribute to her late father-in-law, writing, “I am grateful for the man who raised the love of my life. The man who shaped him to be strong yet humble, courageous yet kind, bold yet deeply compassionate…a protector, a leader, and above all, a man who loves God and loves people well.”
“We know heaven is rejoicing as he is welcomed into his forever home… but on this side of heaven, the emptiness is real, and it is heavy,” she continued. “We will miss him. And we will do our best to carry forward the legacy he lived so faithfully.”
Let’s all seek to faithfully live out God’s call on our lives.
