By Movieguide® Contributor
SOUND OF FREEDOM actress Mira Sorvino credits her late father, actor Paul Sorvino, for making her a better actress.
“If I was acting, he’d be really, really harsh,” Sorvino told Fox News. “But in a kind way.”
The actress said he would tell her, “Mira, that was wonderful. I just have two notes,” adding, “And then he would sit me down for two hours and break down the entire performance bit by bit…tell me where I was wrong.”
“He still was loving about it,” Sorvino said. “With acting he was very calm and kind. But super honest.”
Sorvino went on to say that her father was “always so loving” and “so encouraging…just like I am with my children.”
“I think they’re the best in the world,” the actress shared. “If you really love your kid…you see them in the most positive possible light.”
The SOUND OF FREEDOM actress is currently appearing on DANCING WITH THE STARS.
“What a thrilling experience,” she wrote on Instagram. “#DWTS is a dream come true & cannot wait to continue this larger than life journey with the amazing @glebsavchenkoofficial so happy to dance to one of my favorite songs in the world, Kiss by @prince! My family and friends were there and I feel so so grateful to the judges and the fans for putting us through to the next round!”
Sorvino also recently celebrated the release of SOUND OF FREEDOM, posting about the movie’s premiere on Instagram.
“Please everyone see @angelstudios_inc powerful film which will move you to action- this is not a political issue but a fundamental crisis of our time, and we must all get involved if we are to #endit,” she wrote. “My role is not large but the children in this movie give incredible performances which will hopefully open your hearts to the over 2 million children trapped in modern slavery of #commercialsexualexploitationofchildren.”
Movieguide® previously reported on Sorvino:
SOUND OF FREEDOM Actress Mira Sorvino recently shared her powerful perspective on human trafficking in an interview with CBN.
Sorvino’s new film, SOUND OF FREEDOM, is currently playing in theaters. She plays the wife of a man who devotes his life to rescuing young victims of human trafficking. Sorvino shared what it was like to witness people’s reactions to the movie.
“To see people… [with] their hearts in their throats, like watching this unfold and understanding the reality of two million children in the world who are trapped in child sex exploitation right now who are being trafficked and sold to evil people who have not one wit of compassion or empathy for them as human children—it was powerful,” Sorvino said.
