Fans excited for SPIDER-MAN: BEYOND THE SPIDER-VERSE will have to wait a little longer than expected to see the latest installment in the animated franchise.

It will premiere three weeks after its originally slated release date, now hitting theaters on June 25, 2027, a move some believe theaters made to accommodate kids’ school schedules.

SPIDER-MAN: BEYOND THE SPIDER-VERSE will pick up where SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE left off, with Miles Morales confronting “a villainous version of himself in the Earth-42 dimension” and Gwen Stacy assembling “a team to find Miles Morales, consisting of Spider-Man Noir, Spider-Ham, Peni Parker and many others,” NME reported.

Movieguide® praised ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE’s “strong, pro-family theme.”

Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson direct. Phil Lord and Chris Miller wrote the script with David Callaham.

Shameik Moore will star as Miles Morales. He’ll be joined by Jake Johnson, Hailee Steinfeld, Mahershala Ali, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Velez, Jason Schwartzman, Issa Rae, Daniel Kaluuya and Oscar Isaac.

But will fans ever get a live-action Miles Morales? The answer is a resounding “no,” as Sony has clearly communicated to Marvel to “stay away.”

“That is nowhere,” Marvel president Kevin Feige said of a live-action Miles Morales film. “We’ve been told to stay away.”

But the Tom Holland-led SPIDER-MAN franchise is getting some promising updates.

SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY, which picks up where NO WAY HOME left off, will swing into theaters about a year from now, on July 31, 2026.

“I’m obviously over the moon and so excited,” Holland told Deadline of becoming Spider-Man again. “Playing Spider-Man is like hanging out with an old pal. And I think we were really restricted with what we could do in the last movie because of COVID; we shot the entire film on stages.”

“Now, we’re really gonna lean into that old-school filmmaking and shoot in real locations, which is why we’re starting in Glasgow and we’re gonna use the streets of Glasgow to build this massive set-piece that we’re putting together,” the actor continued. “So it’s gonna feel like making [2017’s] SPIDER-MAN 1 again. It’s been such a long time since I’ve done it, it’s gonna feel like a breath of fresh air, and I think the fans are going to be over the moon with what we’re putting together.”

Whether you prefer animated movies or live-action superhero flicks, Spidey fans have lots to look forward to in the coming years.
