How This NBA Star and His Wife Help Families in Need This Christmas

NBA star Steph Curry and wife Ayesha have made $700,000 in donations to provide families with food this Christmas.
“The Currys have an organization called ‘Eat.Learn.Play’ and through this, Stephen and Ayesha have donated $500,000 to the Alameda County Community Food Bank,” the Times of India reported. “They are hoping to provide one million meals to the needy with this massive donation.”
The couple also donated $200,000 worth of grocery store gift cards to 1,000 Oakland, California, families.
The donations are part of the Currys’ annual “Christmas With the Currys” celebration, which also includes generous donations to Oakland’s school district.

“This year’s Christmas with the Currys is providing more than $2 million in resources and support to students and families this holiday season,” Eat.Learn.Play’s website reads. “Throughout December, Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) students and families experienced the joy of reading through festive holiday events and surprises, pop-up book fairs, book distributions, and gifts from Eat. Learn. Play.’s partners, highlighted by a generous $200,000 gift from Safeway for 1,000 Oakland families in need that will receive support through the Safeway Foundation gift cards this holiday season.”
OUSD Superintendent Dr. Kyla Johnson-Trammell said, “Christmas with the Currys is a wonderful annual celebration and it’s so much more. It’s a testament to the transformative power of community and partnership.”
“The outreach to all 18,000 elementary school children across OUSD underscores the depth of the Currys’ and Eat. Learn. Play.’s commitment to Oakland,” she continued. “From sparking a love of reading through book distributions to revitalizing school libraries that will inspire learning for years to come, these initiatives exemplify their dedication to helping our students become the thoughtful leaders that our world needs.
