THE HOBBIT soars to top the weekend
THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG topped the weekend with more ticket sales than the next nine movies combined. FROZEN came is second which is good for its third wide-release weekend. TYLER PERRY’S A MADEA CHRISTMAS did not open as strongly as hoped but managed third.		THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE finally cooled to fourth place followed by THOR: THE DARK WORLD clinging to the fifth spot. AMERICAN HUSTLE and SAVING MR. BANKS opened in limited release and will widen this coming weekend, in competition with ANCHORMAN 2: THE LEGEND CONTINUES and WALKING WITH DINOSAURS.

Disney, was winning the box office average by a wide margin until it released its first LLL movie of 2013, THE FIFTH ESTATE. Warner Bros and Sony bring up the rear in box office average with an abundance of foul language.
