During Apple TV press day, Apple suggested that more may be in the works in the F1 franchise after last year’s movie was such a hit with fans in theaters and at home.
“We’re going to tell you something more in the future,” Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali said when asked if another movie in the franchise was coming. “We need to digest the success of this movie. If you want to think of a new one, it has to be very good.”

F1 ended its theatrical run with multiple impressive accolades, including the highest grossing sports movie of all time, Apple Original Films’ most successful theatrical release and Brad Pitt’s highest grossing movie of all time.
The movie explores many of the riveting aspects of sports as well as the difficulties of teamwork and forgiveness. A portion of Movieguide®’s review reads:
F1 THE MOVIE has some of the most riveting racing scenes ever filmed. It tells a compelling redemptive story with engaging characters. Teamwork and sacrifice win the day. The movie also promotes friendship, a strong mother-son relationship and the importance of fathers. It also has positive Christian references. However, there’s lots of light to medium foul language, five strong obscenities and profanities, and an implied bedroom scene. So, MOVIEGUIDE® advises strong caution for F1 THE MOVIE.
Meanwhile, the Formula 1 league has seen an incredible surge of interest within the US thanks, largely in part to Netflix’s work to make it more accessible. Netflix’s documentary series DRIVE TO SURVIVE, which takes viewers behind the scenes of the sport, provided unprecedented access to these athletes and helped their fans understand who they are both on and off the track.
Last fall, Apple TV further increased American access to the sport through a five-year deal that makes Apple TV+ the exclusive home to all F1 races starting in 2026.
“We’re thrilled to expand our relationship with Formula 1 and offer Apple TV subscribers in the U.S. front-row access to one of the most exciting and fastest-growing sports on the planet,” Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Services, said when the broadcast partnership was announced. “2026 marks a transformative new era for Formula 1, from new teams to new regulations and cars with the best drivers in the world, and we look forward to delivering premium and innovative fan-first coverage to our customers in a way that only Apple can.”
It is incredible to see how this sport has become a major spectacle in the US in recent years, and as its popularity continues to grow, fans will continue to have more content thrown their way, including a potential second F1 movie.
