Will DUCK DYNASTY Return? Willie Robertson Weighs In

By Movieguide® Contributor

While the Robertson family continues to produce new content, Willie Robertson revealed that another season of DUCK DYNASTY   won’t be possible.

“We are looking into some different TV ideas,” Willie told TV Insider. “But to recapture what we did before is really not gonna happen. Sadly, everyone’s gotten older, and we’re in different places now. Our cast has expanded drastically. I have seven grandkids now, so we’ve got some ideas.”

The family has already returned to TV through several projects. Last year, they released DUCK FAMILY TREASURE, which followed Jase and Jep Robertson on their search for buried treasure. The family also released a Christmas special, DUCK FAMILY CHRISTMAS, which saw almost all of the family back together.

Last year also saw the release of THE BLIND, which told the incredible true story of how patriarch Phil Robertson came to Christ and turned his life around. After the movie’s success—Fathom Events’ highest-grossing release to date—the family revealed it had plans for more movies to come.

Fans of the Robertson family can also keep up with Sadie Robertson Huff through her “WHOA That’s Good” podcast. She frequently has family members on the show, where they reminisce on the past and talk about future plans.

During an episode in March, Sadie and her mother, Korie, revealed they are dabbling with the idea of a new reality TV show. However, they are not sold on it.

While disappointing to DUCK DYNASTY fans, Willie’s comments to TV Insider line up with the rest of the family. Although DUCK DYNASTY has ended, the Robertson family continues to serve as lights in the entertainment industry, and they remain committed to sharing Gospel-centered stories.

“We’re looking at a lot of different movies right now,” Willie said. “But sure, I mean I would love to show a movie about more [of Phil and Kay’s story] once it got better.”

“I’ve got several different movies. I just met about all of them,” he added. “We got some interesting ones…Everything will be positive, I think, in a way, but all kinds of fun stuff.”

Willie and Korie Robertson, stars of DUCK DYNASTY, have announced plans to make more movies and TV projects after their recent hit film THE BLIND.

In an interview with USA Today, Willie Robertson said, “It’s awesome that so many people came out to theaters to see this incredible redemption story… The response was phenomenal. Stories (poured) in of standing ovations, baptisms and post movie gatherings all over the country.”

THE BLIND was a huge success and was Fathom Event’s highest grossing release to date.

A previous Movieguide article reported: “’From the beginning, we knew how special this film was, and we were eager to support it in the best way possible,’ said Ray Nutt, CEO of Fathom Events. ‘Giving the film a longer theatrical run was a great decision for Fathom because of how important it was to bring this message to the fans – it resonated with so many people, which is why THE BLIND has had such staying power.’”
