HEADING SOUTH

What You Need To Know:

PULSE is a low-budget horror movie. Mattie, a pretty college student, hasn’t heard from her boyfriend, Josh, who’s being haunted by some kind of flickering, ghostly person who attacks him. Mattie goes over to Josh’s place to confront him. Josh despondently walks to another room, where he hangs himself. Mattie tries to move on, but starts getting text messages from Josh. Soon, the whole city and the rest of the United States are being invaded by ghosts. A broadband experiment gone awry has enabled dead people to attack the world of the living, killing millions. Mattie and Dexter, a young computer expert, try to stop them.

PULSE is pretty boring. The live people in this half-baked story are just as dead as the ghosts attacking them. The story implies a very strong pagan worldview where there is an afterlife, but no Heaven or Hell, or God. Included in that worldview is an occult device where the ghosts of dead people return to haunt, infect and destroy the living. This is all pretty depressing, especially when compared to the joy of eternal life that God grants to all those who believe on Jesus Christ.

Content:

(HHH, FeFeFe, CoCoCo, AbAbAb, LL, V, SSS, NNN, AA, DDD, MMM) Very, very, very strong humanist worldview with very strong, feminist, Marxist, anti-Christian, anti-romance worldview featuring a woman liberated from her bourgeois attitudes to become a hedonistic feminist; eight obscenities and five profanities; man chased by guard/chauffer with gun and naked dead bodies dumped on beach in front of hotel; full male nudity front and rear, upper female nudity; lots of discussions of sex and lots of sexual activity including implied oral sex but none of it very salacious, erotic or intense and all of it surprisingly bland, male prostitution, and hints and discussions of pedophilia; lots of alcohol use; smoking and lots of drugs, including marijuana; and lots of lying, cheating and hedonism.

More Detail:

PULSE is a low-budget horror movie about ghosts trying to take back the world by coming through broadband signals on computers, cell phones, PDAs, and wireless systems.

Mattie and Josh are college students having an affair at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. Mattie hasn’t heard much lately, however, from her boyfriend, who’s being haunted by some kind of flickering, computer-image person who attacks him. Mattie goes over to Josh’s place to confront him. Josh suddenly appears and despondently walks to another room, where he hangs himself.

Mattie tries to move on, but starts getting text messages from Josh saying, “Help me.” One of her college friends goes to turn off Josh’s computer at his apartment, but the computer’s been sold. While there, he is also attacked.

Soon, the whole campus, the whole city and all of the United States are being invaded by the ghosts of dead people. A broadband experiment gone awry has enabled the ghosts physically somehow to attack the world of the living, killing millions along the way. Mattie and Dexter, the young computer expert who bought Josh’s computer, try to stop them.

PULSE is pretty boring. The live people in this half-baked story are just as dead as the ghosts attacking them. Also, the story implies a very strong pagan worldview where there is an afterlife, but no Heaven or Hell, or God. Included in that worldview is an occult device where the ghosts of dead people return to haunt, infect and destroy the living. This is all pretty depressing, especially when compared to the joy and glory of eternal life that God grants to all those who believe on Jesus Christ.

Today’s horror films have lost all sense of humanity, decency and especially joy. There’s no reason to go see them anymore whatsoever, if ever there ever was a reason.
