More Detail:

RAIN WITHOUT THUNDER is a pseudo documentary set in the year 2042, twenty years after a Constitutional amendment has made abortion illegal thus reversing Roe v. Wade. As the film opens, Allison Goldring and her mother have been convicted of “fetal murder” having obtained an abortion in Sweden. An investigative reporter interviews various individuals who have tried various methods to either prevent pregnancy or to abort their fetuses. The film uses this information to show the “evils” of making the murder of unborn babies illegal.

The near documentary-like style of this film takes its title from freed slave Frederick Douglass’ quote: “If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom and yet avoid confrontation, are people who want crops without plowing up the ground; they want rain without thunder and lightning….” Through its documentary style and an exploration of the evils that would ensue if Roe v. Wade were reversed, the film turns out to be pure propaganda and another “politically correct” message. Having said that, however, it is important to note that abortion is not just wrong, rather it is taking the life of another–murder.
