Get ready, Spider-Man fans! Fan-favorite ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE character Spider-Punk will swing into theaters with his own spin-off movie!

“SPIDER-PUNK, a spinoff of 2023’s animated hit SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE, is in early development at Sony Pictures Animation,” Variety reported

Daniel Kaluuya, who voiced the character in the popular animated movie, is set to develop and co-write the movie, alongside Ajon Singh.

The outlet noted that “plot details haven’t been sorted out,” but the movie will center on Hobie Brown, a.k.a. Spider-Punk, a rocker and webslinger who uses his guitar to fight the bad guys.

Kaluuya spoke to The Hollywood Reporter in 2023 about his connection to the character, explaining, “I’m from the area that Hobie is from. Hobie is from Camden, and that’s where I was born. So I just dipped into that.”

“Camden is a very interesting place. I mean, it’s where punk was born, so it’s very counterculture at times. So I knew the essence and the vibe, because I’ve been around it my whole life. So it’s great to show that side of where I’m from,” the actor continued.

He also shared what it was like to see the character he was voicing animated onscreen for the first time.

“When they showed me Hobie moving for the first time, it was him walking down the runway with everyone at Spider Society HQ. And I was like, ‘Guys, thank you so much for letting me be involved in this. This is the coolest [thing] in the world,’” Kaluuya said.

He added, “I was like, ‘I know it’s supposed to be normal for me, but this ain’t normal for me. This is…cool.’ So I felt really grateful and really blessed in that moment to be involved in it, man. It was one of those childhood dreams.”

Spider-Punk isn’t the only SPIDER-VERSE character who has scored a spin-off. SPIDER-NOIR, an animated TV show featuring the character of the same name, voiced by Nicholas Cage, will premiere next year on Amazon Prime.

Details are being kept under wraps, with Cage telling ScreenRant, “They have, and I’m sorry for this answer [chuckles], but the studio has literally put like a five-inch acrylic cone of silence glass around me, and they won’t let me say a word about it, which is really weird. But that’s where they’re at, they’re keeping it so close to the vest.”

SPIDER-VERSE fans, get ready for plenty of projects featuring your favorite webslingers!
