Chava, upon finding that the children have discovered “Chupa,” reveals that he found the creature a while ago and has been feeding it for some time in hopes of reuniting it with its family. However, a scientist doing research in the area, who seeks the creature for his own selfish reasons, tries to capture Chupa. Determined to keep Chupa safe from harm and hoping to find his family if he has one, Chava and the children embark on a quest to find Chupa’s family. The journey brings Chava back to his Lucha Libre wrestling days, and Alejandron closer to his family than he has ever been.

Demian Bichir is an excellent grandfather with a background in Lucha Libre, Mexican wrestling. Christian Slater makes a convincing bad guy. The children voice actors also pull off good performances. CHUPA has high production values, with good cinematography and music. The movie’s CGI of the creature is impressive, recalling the creature depicted in Sony’s video game THE LAST GUARDIAN.
