Joanna Gaines is officially a Barbie!
“I have a Barbie, y’all!!” she posted on Instagram, along with a video of her unboxing the doll. “What a dream this has been to design my own doll and townhouse with the iconic @barbie brand. Six-year-old Jo Jo would be losing her mind.”
In the video, Gaines joked, “Let’s just say, she looks better than me right now,” as she excitedly opened the doll’s box.

In addition to the Barbie doll, Gaines also helped design a Barbie x Hearth & Hand with Magnolia Townhouse, “a three-story playset featuring five play areas and more than 40 accessories including bespoke décor and furniture pieces that fans can arrange,” per a press release.
“It was an honor to partner with the iconic Barbie brand,” the designer said in a statement. “Growing up, the world of Barbie always felt to me like endless possibility. Honestly, design is much the same. It’s all about the freedom to channel creativity, imagination, and above all, play. We get to create spaces that reflect who we are, how we see the world, and our own personal feeling of home.”
Gaines continued, “My hope with this collaboration is that it invites others to design a world for themselves where imagination runs wild and free.”
Gaines wrote about the experience working on the doll version of herself, as well as the townhouse, in a blog post on the Magnolia website.
“This collaboration is like nothing I’ve ever done. It was so fun, and so nostalgic,” she wrote. “It has been an absolute honor to partner with the iconic Barbie® brand. A brand that has spent its 80-year history empowering young girls to dream big and believe that all of us can do or be anything we want.”
Gaines continued, “I still can’t believe this doll and townhouse are actually out in the world, that today I could walk into Target or go online and there it would be. For now, and likely for a long time, I’ll keep them displayed on a shelf in my office. In a room filled with a lot of beautiful grown-up things, I’ll let it be a reminder that I’m never too old to find my way back, to again see my place in the world through a lens of endless possibility.”
