BLUEY sound designer Dan Brumm discussed the lengths he and his team go to make sure the sounds used for the show are as accurate as possible.
“Now, when you watch a show like BLUEY, you don’t think that some dude was sitting in a park recording all those sounds that you’ve heard. [These sounds don’t] exist in sound effect libraries,” Brumm said in a video that showed him walking around a playground.

“So an episode set in a park, in a playground like this — like, you don’t really have those sounds necessarily in your libraries in the studio. But you can’t get them wrong because every kid plays in these things, and they know what the sound of a monkey bar is,” he continued. “They know what the sound of a slide is. So if you get that wrong, it just pulls people out of the narrative. So the thing I love to do is just kind of come down here on one of my days working on the show and just record a bunch of the things that are in the episode.”
BLUEY’s commitment to sound design is just one of many facets of the show that has made it so beloved. BLUEY was the most popular show of 2025, for the second year running, with over 45 billion minutes watched. Meanwhile, Disney has heavily invested in the franchise, introducing Bluey and her sister Bingo to Disneyland and Disney World this year. Meanwhile, a BLUEY movie is set to release next year.
While many children’s shows in recent years have shifted their focus to ideologies that are not safe for kids, BLUEY has steered away from this pitfall and continues to release family-friendly content. A portion of Movieguide®’s review of the first season reads:
BLUEY: Season One is a wonderfully animated children show with a high production value. BLUEY is entertaining not just for children, but also adults. The comedy is witty enough to get a good chuckle out of parents. Even better, the program has strong family morals and lessons that both children and adults can learn. It has a positive depiction of Bluey’s relationship with her sister, mother and father. There are also common themes of sharing, learning and growing up. There is no foul language or other objectionable content. MOVIEGUIDE® finds BLUEY: Season One suitable for all ages.
It is incredible to see just the lengths that those who work on BLUEY go to to deliver a high-quality show. Meanwhile, it is encouraging that the story of this series honors this quality with stories that are family-friendly and teach viewers lessons that are valuable for any age.
