After a $1.6 million debut at the box office, faith-based documentary THE STORY OF EVERYTHING extends its theatrical run through May 17.

“This kind of response speaks volumes,” producer Brian Bird said in a statement. “Audiences aren’t just showing up — they’re engaging, thinking and talking. That’s exactly why we wanted to create this film.”

THE STORY OF EVERYTHING, based on Stephen C. Meyer’s bestselling book Return of the God Hypothesis, explores the mysteries of the universe, providing scientific evidence for the existence of God.

“From the precise laws that govern the stars to the intricate patterns found in every living cell, the film traces evidence of intentional design throughout nature,” a synopsis from Fathom Entertainment reads. “Whether examining distant star-forming clouds or the spiral structure of DNA, we discover a consistent signature woven into the fabric of existence.”

A portion of the Movieguide® review for THE STORY OF EVERYTHING praises the documentary for its “abundance of factual and scientific evidence from top scientists, engineers and philosophers supporting the existence of an Intelligent Designer or Creator God,” calling it “a superb, captivating, family-friendly documentary.”

Bestselling author Lee Strobel, who served as an executive producer on THE STORY OF EVERYTHING, recently spoke to Fox News about the project.

“We’re not at war with science,” he said. “Science, when done right, points toward the truth of the Christian faith. And so I hope for Christians, it’ll encourage them.”

Strobel continued, “I think it’ll encourage them to say, ‘Huh, I never thought about this kind of evidence before. This is clear, this is compelling, this is powerful, this is persuasive. Maybe I ought to pursue the answers a little further than I have in the past.’ And I think when they do, they’re going to find that science is a great friend to Christianity.”

Strobel also spoke to Relevant Magazine about THE STORY OF EVERYTHING, pointing out young people’s interest in the theological questions posed in the documentary.

“We see it driven by Generation Z, young people who are asking the questions about the meaning of life, about the purpose of life,” he explained. “Is this all there is? Is there more?”

Strobel also shared his hopes for what Christians take away from seeing the movie — “I hope they walk away saying, wow, the case is a lot stronger than I thought. The case for the existence of a creator. It’s more robust. It’s more scientifically supported. It’s more philosophically astute than I ever dreamed.”

THE STORY OF EVERYTHING is now playing in theaters.
