New York Jets linebacker Demario Davis and his wife Tamela celebrate their 14th wedding anniversary this year, and they’ve always put “partnership” over “perfection.”

“Another year. Not another year of perfection, but another year of choosing each other,” Tamera wrote in an Instagram caption alongside a video that featured photos of the couple dating back to their wedding in 2012. “Through the victories and disappointments. The seasons of abundance and the seasons of stretching. The moments when life felt beautifully organized and the moments when everything seemed to be unfolding at once.”

Being married taught the couple unexpected lessons.

“Marriage has taught us that real partnership isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about showing up anyway,” she said. “It’s about extending grace when it’s needed, carrying one another when the load feels heavy, celebrating the wins and staying committed when the path isn’t easy.”

“We’ve learned that the most beautiful stories aren’t written in perfect moments. They’re written in the ordinary days — the conversations around the kitchen table, the sacrifices no one sees, the laughter that follows tears, the lessons learned through hardship and the decision to keep building together,” the mom of six continued.

“Life isn’t perfect. We aren’t perfect. But what we’ve built through faith, love, perseverance and partnership is something we’re deeply grateful for. Here’s to another year of growing, learning, dreaming, and becoming. Still choosing you. Still grateful. Still building. Here’s to 14 years of us!” Tamela concluded.

The couple hosts the “Tea With Tamela” podcast. In the last episode of this season, Demario got candid about the sacrifices Tamela made so he could chase his dream in the NFL.

“You had to sacrifice your dream to walk alongside my dream. You invested your fuel into a vehicle that I was driving, and without that fuel, we don’t have what we have today,” Demario said. “Like I was running on 85 unleaded, and you put premium fuel into what was going on. We wouldn’t be where we are inside the game, where we are as a family, where we are off the field without the fuel that you brought from your journey and all those years being injected into this car.”

“Nobody is looking at the engine of the car. So what I would just encourage people is, when you look at someone’s story, whatever you’re seeing, it’s only the headline. It’s so much more content that’s going on underneath, and the only way you’re going to get that information is if you humble yourself and ask questions,” he added.

Through both public celebrations and candid podcast conversations, the couple makes it clear that their 14-year marriage thrives not on perfection, but on mutual sacrifice, grace and an enduring commitment to true partnership.
