Everything You Need to Know About YouTube’s New AI Features
By Movieguide® Contributor
YouTube is joining the surge of companies utilizing AI.
At the “Made on YouTube” creator event this week in New York, the social media giant shared some new plans for the platform.
“Dream Screen, which we announced last year, lets you generate backgrounds in YouTube Shorts — and now it’s getting even better. Google DeepMind’s latest video generation model, Veo, will bring more realistic backgrounds and, for the first time, standalone video clips to Dream Screen,” a Google blog post recapped.
In addition to this, YouTube is updating its “Inspiration Tab” in YouTube Studio.
Using generative AI, it “will help curate suggestions including video ideas, titles, thumbnails and outlines ‘to match your style,'” Variety reported.
YouTube’s upgraded Communities hub feature will also rely on AI. “AI-enhanced comment reply suggestions” will enable creators to “stay responsive even as their audiences grow.”
“This is not about replacing ideas. This is about giving you the tools to get you there faster,” said Sarah Ali, senior director of product at YouTube.
“YouTube also is planning to expand its automatic dubbing tool, which can generate translated audio tracks for videos in different languages,” Variety noted. “That will expand the number of languages it supports, including adding Spanish, Portuguese, French and Italian.”
Other new additions to the platform include “Hype,” which will help smaller creators reach bigger audiences, and a new shopping feature that allows users to shop affiliate links from their favorite creators.
YouTube isn’t the only company implementing new AI features. Movieguide® recently reported how AI getting integrated onto our iPhones:
Apple announced that with the iOS 18 update, it will launch “Apple Intelligence.” This feature is created in partnership with ChatGPT and Open AI.
MSN reported, “Apple Intelligence is the catch-all name for the iPhone maker’s AI capabilities, including ChatGPT-4o integration coming with its iOS 18 software upgrade. The first iteration of iOS 18 will debut alongside Apple’s iPhone 16 models in September, but the AI features are arriving later, in the iOS 18.1 update expected in mid- to late October.”
Apple AI will include suggested replies in Messenger, transcription on phone calls and updated writing tools. However, these are just the beginning.
Next year, the tech giant will launch “Image Playground — the ability to create your own animated images within apps — and custom emoji, called Genmoji.”
