Jamie Foxx Doesn’t ‘Remember Anything’ from Last Year’s Health Scare

By Movieguide® Contributor

Last April, Jamie Foxx spent over two weeks in the hospital and has remained secretive about what occurred; however, he has recently started to share more details about his health scare.

“April 11 last year, [I had] a bad headache, asked my boy for an Advil,” Foxx told fans in a clip shared across social media. “I was gone for 20 days. I don’t remember anything.”

“So they told me — I’m in Atlanta — they told me, my sister and my daughter, they took me to the first doctor. He said nah, give me a cortisone shot. The next doctor said, ‘Something’s going on up there.’ I won’t say it on camera,” Foxx continued.

In April 2023, Foxx’s daughter Corrine asked friends and fans for prayer as her father faced an extended stay in the hospital after the health scare. Though even in her first post she asserted that her father was already on the road to recovery, Foxx wasn’t seen for several months following the incident.

While Foxx has yet to share a full explanation of what occurred, he has revealed some key details, such as the fact that he had to relearn how to walk and that he wouldn’t wish what occurred to him onto his worst enemy. His time in the hospital has also given him a new perspective on life as it caused him to see the things he was taking for granted.

“You know, it’s crazy, I couldn’t do that six months ago — I couldn’t actually walk,” Foxx told an audience last December while accepting the Critics Choice Association Vanguard Award.

“I cherish every single moment now — it’s different. I wouldn’t wish what I went through on my worst enemy because it’s tough when it’s almost over. When you see the tunnel, I saw the tunnel — I didn’t see the light,” he continued.

“I have a new respect for life,” Foxx added. “I have a new respect for my art. I watched so many movies and listened to so many songs trying to have the time go by. Don’t give up on your art, man, don’t give up.”

Foxx certainly hasn’t given up, as he has numerous projects in the works now that he is fully recovered. These projects include a Netflix movie with Cameron Diaz — BACK IN ACTION — which was being filmed when Foxx’s health scare occurred, and a Mike Tyson mini-series.
