Kirk Cameron encourages us to look inward when it comes to discovering the root of our problems.
“I’ve reminded myself of what’s most important: coffee in the morning and a heart full of gratitude,” he said during an episode of “The Kirk Cameron Show” podcast. “Even though there’s things I feel annoyed about, even though there’s things that are disappointing to me and maybe frustrating or irritating, I’m giving thanks for all of it, continuing to pray and asking God to fill my heart with joy.”
Cameron told viewers that our hearts are the problem, explaining, “We do something wrong and then we tend to point outside ourselves to identify the cause.”
“The source of sin is not outside of us but inside of us, and it’s all stored up inside of our heart,” he continued. “You have no power to rescue yourself from your own heart. That’s what you need God’s grace for….and the good news of the gospel is that God provides that for you and for me in Christ.”
Cameron is currently promoting his latest project, a faith-based kids’ show titled IGGY AND MR. KIRK.
“It couldn’t be coming at a better time,” he told GodTube. “We want things that are going to encourage our kids and teach them wisdom and build their character but what TV shows do that?”

Cameron added, “It’s almost like we got to go back in time to shows from a long time ago. Well, that’s essentially what we’re trying to do with [IGGY AND MR KIRK]. It entertains kids. It ignites their imagination while building their character and their faith.”
In an interview with Crosswalk, he shared, “Parents and grandparents are wanting to go back to the values of faith and character that made this the greatest country in the world and promises a healthy future for our kids, so IGGY AND MR. KIRK and Brave Books, Brave Plus, and THE CHOSEN and so many other programs are ways that you can address a dark culture and begin to shine light in it by helping your children be filled with light — by talking about what’s good and true and beautiful when they wake up, when they walk down the road, when they go to sleep at night and when they wake up again in the morning.”
Cameron’s recent video is an excellent motivator to examine our own hearts before we blame outside sources for our troubles.
