Bella Robertson Mayo and her husband Jacob Mayo discussed their difficulties getting pregnant despite wanting to start a family, and how social media has made their infertility even more painful.

“I think what we’ve learned in marriage — and you’ll see in our story on [DUCK DYNASTY: THE REVIVAL] — is that I wish getting pregnant and having kids was as easy as people act like it is,” Mayo told Us Weekly. “Just, ‘Oh, I can pop out a kid’ or ‘If we want to wait, we get to choose to wait.’ It’s not that transactional of a thing.

“It was not an easy decision,” Robertson added of sharing their struggles on the show. “I don’t think we necessarily intended on sharing it even, but it felt right…This is just one of the ways that we are showing up and being our authentic selves on this new show.”

If the struggle of not getting pregnant wasn’t hard enough, the couple is constantly reminded of their difficulty every day through social media. They are asked by fans dozens of times per day why they haven’t had kids and when they plan to.

“I think people just don’t know what they’re talking about or who they’re talking to,” Robertson said. “We share a story of infertility in the show and that’s something that we haven’t really shared publicly that much, but that’s something that others just don’t know.”

“I think that’s kind of the reason when people say stuff [about us not having kids], it’s just like, if it was easy or if it was easy not to, we would,” Mayo added. “But it’s not that simple I would say.”

This is just one of the stories that DUCK DYNASTY: THE REVIVAL will tell when it begins to air. Picking up eight years after the original show ended, THE REVIVAL will focus on how much the family has changed over the years and how much has stayed the same.

“With their dynasty expanding into more than just ducks, Willie and Korie will bring their signature humor and family fun as they grapple with mapping out the future of Duck Commander, watching the kids navigate marriage, children and businesses of their own, and passing down the family legacy,” a synopsis of the series reads.

Fans can expect to see their favorite Robertsons return, including Uncle Si, Miss Kay, Willie, Korie, Rebecca, John Luke, Sadie, Will Jr., Bella and more. The first episode will premiere on June 1 with nine more to follow. A second season of the show has already been greenlit as well which will provide an additional 10 episodes for fans old and new to enjoy.
