FURRY VENGEANCE is designed as a children’s movie with much slapstick comedy. Brendan Fraser does a great job with the physical humor while being tormented by the forest animals. The slapstick style violence requires caution for younger children. There is also much bathroom humor with birds and skunks and one scene where, through some pratfalls, Dan ends up wearing a bra. Parents can enjoy this comedy with their children and laugh along with it. The politically correct environmental message is soft-pedaled but needs to be discussed with your children.

FURRY VENGEANCE is a family comedy about Dan (played by Brendan Fraser), who moves his family to a wilderness area to develop the forest for upscale houses. Dan has almost completed his work but discovers that his unscrupulous boss has planned a Phase 2 that will cut down the forest.
When a local raccoon hears about this, he marshals the other forest creatures to try to stop Dan from cutting down the forest. In this movie, the animals don’t talk but they understand each other.
The animals plan and execute a series of “attacks” on Dan, filling his car with skunks, having a bear chase him, lots of birds “drop” on him at inappropriate moments, a crow taps on his window at night keeping him awake, and other slapstick scenes.
Dan’s wife Tammy (played by Brooke Shields) doesn’t believe him when he says the animals are out to get him. She even sends him to a therapist, thinking that the job stress is getting too much for him.
As the nefarious boss is about to announce a signing of the funding for Phase 2, Dan learns that the plan is to kill the animals that are left in the forest. Dan realizes that the head raccoon was simply looking out for his family the way he was looking out for his. Dan, with the help of the animals, goes into action to stop the development.
Rated PG, FURRY VENGEANCE is designed as a children’s movie with much slapstick. Brendan Fraser does a great job with the physical humor while being tormented by the forest animals. The story is pretty predictable, but it’s a fun execution of it nonetheless.
There is slapstick style violence that requires some caution for younger children. There is also much bathroom humor as birds “attack.” After being “skunked,” Dan is in a tub of tomato juice, trying to get out the smell. The animals trick him into standing up in front of an open window, though nothing is seen. Dan reaches for a towel to dry his eyes and the raccoon hands him his wife’s bra and a series of pratfalls ends with Dan wearing it.
FURRY VENGEANCE contains a light environmental message. The development company is supposedly green, but this is simply a false marketing stunt. The forest being cut down was originally zoned as a preserved forest, but the hypocritical boss pulled strings in Washington to get it re-zoned.
Parents can enjoy this comedy with their children and laugh along with the pratfalls. The politically correct environmental message is soft-pedaled but needs to be discussed with younger children.
