Actor Shares How ‘God’s Timing’ Turned a Setback Into a Life He Loves

Actor Robert Amaya recently shared how what seemed like a setback at the time actually set him on the path to his family and acting career.
“When I was in college, I actually had a recording contract, and everything was going as it should have been,” the COURAGEOUS star told Movieguide®.
However, he was told that his album was going to be delayed.
“Days became weeks became months and then years,” Amaya explained. “I was shelved.”
He continued, “I was so devastated at that time, but then I came to realize that, had I done that, I probably would not be married to the wife I have today or have the kids that I love today.”
“And even better than that, because it glorifies the God I love, I wouldn’t have the career in faith-based films that I get to have,” Amaya concluded. “All because it wasn’t God’s timing.”
Amaya recently starred in NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE, the story of a man who gets a second chance at a basketball career — and love.
“One of the things I love about this script is that it’s a great metaphor,” Amaya told the American Family Association of the movie. “On the surface, it’s about doing or accomplishing the impossible, but what it’s really about is redemption. And as we know, redemption is an impossibility without Christ.”
He is also part of the cast of SHADRACH, a new show from Great American Pure Flix. The Movieguide® review reads:
SHADRACH is a heartwarming family series on Great American Pure Flix. The series follows Anna, a young girl who must adjust to life in the country when her father’s business goes bust. Anna’s reluctant at first to embrace her new circumstances. However, after connecting with a horse she names Shadrach, she starts to enjoy her new life. In the first episode, Anna encounters Shadrach, but he belongs to a neighbor who treats the horse badly. Can Anna and her grandpa figure out a way to buy Shadrach from the neighbor? In the second episode, a spooked Shadrach bucks Anna and her handicapped brother. Can they convince their parents to let Michael keep riding Shadrach?
The first two episodes of SHADRACH are well-made. They feature engaging plotlines and beautiful settings. They also have a strong Christian, morally uplifting worldview, with many scenes showing characters attending church, praying and talking about their faith. Thematically, the first two episodes promote relying on faith, helping each other, and loving family and friends. SHADRACH has no objectionable content. However, two scenes of mild peril might scare very young children.
“This is a perfect show for families — young and old,” SHADRACH’s director, Sean McNamara, told Deseret News. “I think they will enjoy it…It’s something that’s watchable and you can watch it with your whole family.”
