Nate Bargatze explained that his upcoming movie THE BREADWINNER is fully targeted at a family audience and he hopes to revive a genre that has been overlooked for decades.

“It’s a throwback to the classic family comedy movies that we all love. I think there is a lack of entertainment made for entire families,” Bargatze told People. “There are so few movies where everyone of all ages can have a good laugh. So I decided to create one myself.”

“This is a movie with characters everyone can relate to, and it gives families and friends a great reason to go to a theater for an excellent night out,” Bargatze continued. “We have a lot of fun craziness that happens in the movie, but the family feels like a real family.”

The decision to create a movie for audiences of all ages is a natural extension of Bargatze’s stand-up comedy career where he has made it to the top of the industry following the same principle. By focusing solely on family-friendly content Bargatze has garnered fans of all ages, many of whom will be extremely excited to come to theaters when his first movie releases.

While Bargatze is excited to switch to a new medium and try his hand at moviemaking, he is also nervous about the difference between stand-up and acting on-screen.

“It’s going to be hard to make something and then have to wait to see it,” he told Relevant in April. “I’m used to immediate reactions. Plus, I don’t know the first thing about making a movie… I’m excited to figure it all out – what works, what’s funny, what needs tweaking. It’s going to be a whole new world, and I can’t wait to learn.”

Meanwhile, Bargatze continues to dive into new projects, with his most audacious one being the opening of his own theme park. Similar to how Dolly Parton created Dollywood as an attraction to help bolster the economy of eastern Tennessee, Bargatze hopes to do the same for middle Tennessee.

“Nate and Nateland are committed to good, clean, family-friendly entertainment,” said Felix Verdigets, CEO of Nateland Entertainment, in a statement. “We live in middle Tennessee and recognize the need for a major attraction for people of all ages in the Nashville area. We’re excited to see what our partnership with Storyland Studios will bring.”

“This project has been a long time coming, and we’re thrilled to officially announce that we have embarked on this journey with Nate, Felix, and the entire Nateland team,” added Mel McGowan, founder and chief creative officer of Storyland Studios, the company Bargatze is working with to create the attraction. “Our goal is to create a truly premium themed entertainment experience right in Music City that reflects the unique humor and heart of Nateland, while also delivering a world-class destination for families.”

Bargatze continues to give his fans much to be excited about and while there are many projects in the pipeline, the next one up is his first movie THE BREADWINNER, which will hit theaters starting March 13, 2026.
