Former NFL Star Reveals the Bible Verse That Inspires His Care for Others

Tim Tebow shared how the Lord is close with the brokenhearted and how His care for them inspires the former football star to fight for them.

“There’s so much suffering in the world. How can a good God let so much suffering happen? The first thing that I would say is our God is not far from the suffering. Our God makes it very clear that He is near to the brokenhearted. When we look at Isaiah 61 and you look at Matthew 25:40, one of my favorite verses: ‘Whatever you’ve done to these least of these brothers and sisters of mine you have done unto me’ in commanding us to care and love those that have been treated as less than, insignificant, dehumanized,” Tebow said.

“But our God isn’t just near to it in that sense. He’s near to it in that He took on flesh and lived a perfect life but chose to die a death that we deserve to die and He took on the sin of all humanity upon Himself so that He would be the ransom for many…” he continued. “It’s been one of the most convicting things to me — if He’s near to the brokenhearted, then I should be too.”

Tebow has made it his life’s mission to care for the most vulnerable people, a goal that he pursues through his foundation. He has helped bring dignity to thousands living with disabilities across the world through his Night to Shine event and has also saved hundreds from human trafficking through dozens of operations.

Meanwhile, Tebow encourages millions of fans everyday through posts on social media where he reminds them that they have value and that God wants to use them to achieve His plan for humanity.

“I want to be able to help bring people to God’s word so that they can see scripture answering these questions,” he previously said. “Yes, you have a purpose. Your life is important. Your life is valuable. Your life has meaning, and there are good works for you to do.”

Everything Tebow does is motivated by bringing more people into a relationship with Christ. It is amazing to see how he uses his platform to achieve this goal and encourage everyone he encounters while also lifting up thousands and restoring their inherent dignity, just as Christ did.
