Actors Matthew McConaughey and Russell Brand sat down on Brand’s UNDER THE SKIN podcast, where the two called out the Left for patronizing working-class and conservative crowds.

“There are a lot on that illiberal left that absolutely condescend, patronize and are arrogant towards that other 50%,” McConaughey said.

McConaughey encouraged people to be open to alternative metrics that promote unity rather than hostility.

“What I’ve got to do is define the science behind why they’re [people] valuable, the science behind why they work, the science behind why that doesn’t mean you have to now come over to the proverbial ‘other side,'” McConaughey said.

“Let’s get aggressively centric, I dare you,” McConaughey added. “It’s not a recession, it’s an aggressive move.”

Brand agreed with McConaughey and said his past experiences make him especially turned off by liberals who dismiss Donald Trump voters, Brexit supporters, and everyday workers as just “dumb.”

“I don’t like it,” Brand said. “I’ve spent enough time with people that have been described in this manner to feel ill at ease with it.”

Brand later added, “Our entire way of measuring what is valuable has been biased to such an alarming degree that it’s created this kind of chasm of mistrust.”

McConaughey also noted that Hollywood has not helped the situation and recalled how many in the acting industry denied that Trump was President in 2016.

“When Trump was voted in four years ago they were in denial that were that it was actually real,” McConaughey.

The excerpt ended with Brand and McConaughey discussing the importance of teaching personal responsibility without tearing people down in the process.

“Education institutions are primarily preparing people for a life of ‘you better become a valuable commodity to this system otherwise you are discarded’ you know?” Brand said. “Where are people saying ‘you are valuable, you are beautiful but you have duties and responsibilities’? These ideas are lost in the morass of the pyramidal structures that I would say have reached a tipping point.”
