Are We Living in the ‘Best Time’ in Human History? This Actor Thinks So

Rob Lowe says that, despite the “challenges” of life today, he still thinks that “we’re living in the best time in human history.”

During an episode of Mike Rowe’s “The Way I Heard It” podcast, the pair spoke about how fast technology is advancing.

“Part of it’s getting older, I know, but it’s the tech and it’s the AI and it’s just so fast, I don’t think people have time to process the last breakthrough,” Rowe said. “Everything is happening all at once.”

Lowe replied, “This is one I heard the other day: [AI] will be the Gutenberg Press, if the Gutenberg Press wrote whatever book it wanted to write.”

Despite the concerns many have about the increasing role technology is playing in our lives, as well as other worries, Lowe said that he still thinks we’re living in a great time.

“I think, in spite of all the complexities and challenges, and frankly, very, very bad things that are going on in our world, I believe that we’re living in the best time in human history,” he explained. “And I believe that I was a young man in the best time to be [young].”

He added, “That was the time. It was all of the good, and there was always some bad, sure, but that was a moment in time, and I’m just super grateful.”

Lowe rose to fame in the ’80s and has worked consistently on TV, with lead roles in shows like THE WEST WING, PARKS AND RECREATION and 9-1-1: LONE STAR.

He is also the host of game show THE FLOOR, which was recently renewed for two more cycles.

“Fans loved the first season of THE FLOOR so much that we’ve ordered two more seasons of this breakthrough game show, with plans already underway to make our epic battle of the brains even bigger and bolder,” Fox network president Michael Thorn said. “It’s also been a massive win to have a huge star like Rob Lowe as our host, and both our viewers and competitors can’t wait to see him back in action.”

“Professionally, I would say we found a groove, so we understood how to navigate each other’s behavior on set, which was not something we had ever experienced before,” John Owen told Fox News. “I won’t speak for him, but I will say for me, and I think that with that sort of additional respect for each other professionally, came some personal respect, just a modicum, just a tiny bit, but, it is very fun working with him.”
